The Modernist original painting in stretched canvas is painted by the artist Barbara M. Roberts in 1974 in the manner an " style of " the American master Realist artist Edward Hopper.

The interior composition depicts a hallway view looking into a kitchen, bath, and dining room with beautiful natural light and thought provoking cast shadows. Exquisitely painted in a gorgeous multicolor vintage palette, the Realist style artwork perfectly captures the mood and feel of the spirit of a Mid Twentieth Century Modern still life interior.

Barbara Morgan Roberts ( 1930 - 2016 ) the Mission Kansas born Modernist artist was a graduate of The Parsons School of Design in New York. Her early career was in fashion illustration with well known retailers Woolf Brothers, Kline's, and Harzfeld's, and later with Hallmark. Starting in the 1950's she began regularly working in her Kansas City studio, becoming an accomplished painter. Artworks by Roberts were exhibited in more than sixty juried exhibitions in the 1970's through the 1990's, and are included in many prestigious private and corporate collections.

The rare vintage original one of a kind framed large format Modernist painting measures 31 1/8" W X 41 1/2" H X 2 1/4" D.

It is hand signed B. Roberts, in the lower right front corner bottom, and hand signed, titled and dated Barbara M. Roberts " Interior " 1974, on the reverse back side of the upper wood stretcher bar.

It is custom framed in a Contemporary Modern satin eggshell finish deep bevel detail walnut stained chestnut brown wood framed molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.

It is in excellent " like new " condition. The painting is in excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age, and very light signs of handling.
