Similar baskets … Read more This basket or tray is likely from the mid 19th century or earlier and was imported from China. Similar baskets have been described as wedding or offering baskets. It has a simple folk art look and was originally put together with wood pegs. The metal strips around may have been added later for strengthening or repair. It has a beautiful aged patina and would add a warm, rustic, and textural look to any interior, perhaps serving as a fruit basket or tray for holding books or magazines.
