Rare René Herbst “Sandows” dining set for the Alivar Museum Collection, comprising a glass-top dining table, four side chairs, and two armchairs. The design exemplifies Herbst’s pioneering use of industrial materials, tension elements, and architectural geometry.
Originally conceived through Herbst’s exploration of industrial materials and modernist construction, the design combines steel, tension elements, and transparency to create a visually lightweight yet highly sculptural presence. The wire construction casts dramatic shadows throughout the day, making the set as much an architectural object as functional furniture.
