Decorative and historical.
Staffordshire transferware Pitcher by Enoch Woods, circa 1825.
The central scene on each side is of a seated Lafayette viewing a large urn bearing the inscription “Franklin”. In the background is a rising or setting sun before with is a ship and a temple.
The border is decorated with flowers and other foliage that flow into the central scene.
The base bears the impressed mark “Woods” and a printed workman’s mark.
