This striking antique Louis XVI style table, dating to approximately 1890, exemplifies the refined elegance of French neoclassical design. Crafted from rich walnut wood, the table is lavishly adorned with intricate ormolu mounts and delicate marquetry inlay, showcasing superior craftsmanship. The rectangular top features a finely executed floral and neoclassical marquetry design, centered around an elegant urn motif, all framed by a detailed ormolu border that adds a touch of gilded luxury. The single drawer, discreetly integrated into the front apron, is fitted with two ornate ormolu pull handles and a central key escutcheon (key not present), flanked by additional decorative ormolu accents. The table stands on four gracefully tapered and fluted legs, each embellished with complementary ormolu mounts at the capital and terminating in brass sabots. A well designed, curved stretcher base, also accented with ormolu detailing, connects the legs, enhancing both the structural integrity and the sophisticated aesthetic of this fine piece of furniture.
