Antique Francois Martinet Bird Hand Colored Print "Bee Eater" Framed No Glass
Antique, hand colored copperplate engraving print by Francois Nicholas Martinet. The print is from the Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux by Count Georges-Louis Leclerc du Buffon published between 1765 and 1780.
It features a rendering of the long tailed Bee Eater of Senegal.
The picture was framed under glass until just recently when the glass was broken and removed. The original frame remains.
The back paper is delicate and has the original sticker from where it was purchased.
