Very cool hand wrought iron and tin rooster, the bird shown strutting and showing off his regalia of life-like feathers. Large scale at 28 by 26 by 12 inches.
You can see this rooster as a prop in the 1965 Steve McQueen movie, "The Cincinnati Kid", in the bar where he goes to see a cock fight with Ann Margaret. Also starring Edward G. Robinson, Tuesday Weld, Rip Torn and Karl Malden.
Mounted on a flat steel base.
Provenance: Estate of Skitch Henderson, the conductor, pianist and radio and television entertainer who provided music and repartee for Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show in the 1950s and 1960s and who founded and led the New York Pops., at Carnegie Hall.
