Located at 218–220 Faubourg Saint-Martin in Paris, the company E. Val & Cie evolved towards a hybrid model combining the trading and distribution of glassware. from the second half of the 1920s, it shifted its focus towards an Art Deco aesthetic by initiating a collaboration with Verrerie d'Art Lorrain, a subsidiary of Daum based in Croismare.
These pieces combined acid-etched colored glass with architectural forms. They were signed D'Argyl, a trademark registered in 1928 by E. Val & Cie to distinguish this artistic line. This vase is a characteristic example: amber-tinted blown glass on a pedestal base, decorated with roses and foliage acid-etched on a satin background, and structured in registers—a high frieze, a central ogival panel, and smooth areas at the bottom—reflecting the influence of the geometric Art Deco repertoire on a traditional floral motif.
The contrast between the translucent amber and the matte areas of the decoration creates the characteristic depth of Croismare's productions, in a style close to the glassware of Schneider or Legras. This piece has an attribution mark,
