Trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris and having worked at the Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory, Marcel Guillot opened his own workshop and became one of the leading figures in post-war French ceramics. He co-organized the first Salon des Céramistes d'Art de France (French Art Ceramists' Exhibition) in 1949 with Pol Chambost, and presided over it for many years before passing the torch to Jacques Blin. He exhibited at the Ateliers d'Art alongside Jouve, Innocenti, and the Orlandos, with a style atypical for the 1950s—highly geometric decoration and masterful incisions.
