Fine-paste earthenware enriched with siliceous frit, covered with a high-fire crackle glaze; polychrome decoration in enamels (black, cobalt blue, ochre) applied in opaque glaze, fired at high temperature.
Ornamental repertoire of international Art Deco—concentric scale motifs and reserved lozenges directly derived from the vocabulary of the 1925 Exposition; chromatic palette characteristic of Belgian production between the two World Wars.
The Nimy Pottery, the only Belgian manufacturer to have received the imperial title of "Imperial and Royal Factory" as early as 1789, was internationally renowned for the quality and distinctiveness of its crackle glaze—a technical signature that sets its production apart from that of its European contemporaries.
