The Ondulations motif was originally designed for the first-class dining room and the Grand Bar of the ocean liner Normandie—a pinnacle of transatlantic Art Deco design, for which Christofle supplied thousands of pieces of silverware. Created in 1933, the design combines simplicity, purity, and fluidity of pattern.

These presentation plates are a direct expression of this motif: the rim is punctuated by a succession of concentric, raised moldings—circular fluting that diminishes towards the flat base—which eliminate all ornamentation, allowing the interplay of material and light to take center stage. The silvered surface, by capturing reflections from different angles, transforms the molding into a kinetic display.
