The enormous frame has tactile interest and dimension within the gold, enhanced by red bole substrate peeking through. Forming a pediment atop the tall frame is the ornamental shell crest which uses the familiar imagery of rococo tastes (scrolling details, flora, rocaille) to project abundance and luxury met with refined sophistication. The original mirror plate is barely touched by oxidized foxing, traced with a narrow beaded trim. Please view the detailed images as they are essential to understanding the current condition.
