Dyrlund's iconic "Flip Flap" dining table features one of the most innovative expansion mechanisms in Danish Modern design, adding circumference to maintain its round shape rather than extending into an oval. Leaves pull out from beneath the main surface and fold over to complete the circle.
This particular example, made from old growth teak, grows from 51" to 71" to accommodate up to 10 guests.
Solid brass hinges connect each fold, creating an octagonally continuous grain pattern on the outer perimeter. The dining surface hovers atop a set of gently tapered legs that disappear seamlessly into the table's underside.
The Lotus table is a feat of both design and engineering, bringing aesthetic simplicity to a mechanically complex piece.
Fully refinished and ready for another generation of use.
