A finely carved Chinese cinnabar lacquer jewelry box dating to the 1950s–1960s export period, featuring elaborate dragon and phoenix decoration surrounded by scrolling floral motifs and geometric diaper grounds.
The box opens to a vivid turquoise silk-lined interior with removable fitted tray and ring compartments, accented by an ornate brass-tone clasp with cloisonné-style detailing. The richly carved lacquer surface and jewel-toned interior create a striking decorative presence.
Likely produced for export or for sale through China’s Friendship Stores during the mid-20th century, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship associated with the period’s finest Chinese export lacquerware.
