Antique American 4 drawer dresser
mid 19th century. Solid wood construction.
Beautiful tiger curly maple drawer fronts with warm original patina.
Hand cut, dovetails, large, slightly irregular, with the angled gouge marks that you only get from a hand saw and chisel. That dates the piece pre-1850 construction.

The surface shows age-appropriate with finish variations, and signs of honest use
Inside the back of the dresser is the inscription “ refinished by Claude Che(rry?) Ronald hand/Jan. 1928” is a wonderful piece of layered Providence, it tells you the piece was already valued as an antique by 1928 when two people, probably the homeowner and a local craftsman, or two cabinet shop workers, refinished it . That’s the kind of secondary historical mark that adds interest to the piece. The back appears to have had its back panel replaced at some point. Almost every 200 year-old chest has had that done. This is completely normal.
