The bench is a newly produced piece of seating furniture featuring a wide plank top and an A-shaped trestle frame made of solid hardwood. The seat surface displays a coarse, open grain with a deliberately applied aged patina; the iron corner brackets at the joints provide a structural accent against the light-coloured wood.
Design context:
The bench follows a structurally minimalist principle: the seat, trestle legs and foot brace form a fully visible, unclad supporting structure. The A-shaped arrangement of the legs lends visual tension to the long piece of furniture without disrupting the horizontal calm of the seat. The iron brackets at the joints are not concealed but are designed as visible structural elements – a formal feature that corresponds with worked historical furniture. The light, limed wood finish is tonally similar to the weathered and unvarnished surfaces of older pieces; the combination with dark or patinated antique wood is therefore formally coherent.
Features:
Wide plank seat with visible grain and rounded longitudinal edges / A-frame base with a continuous foot brace and visible iron brackets at the joints Design The seat consists of several wide planks; the joints are visible, the longitudinal edges slightly rounded. The frame forms two A-shaped trestles, connected by a continuous lower longitudinal strut. The transitions between the legs and the strut are finished without decorative mouldings. The iron brackets sit flat on the wood and follow the right-angled geometry of the connection points. The ratio of length to height is approximately 4:1. Function The length of 182 cm allows for linear placement in front of tables or along walls.
