The architect is Paolo Posi, and the image is engraved by Giuseppe Vasi. The title: Prospect of the first Machine representing a Deliziosa adorned with vegetables and fountains, to hint at the delights of the new sumptuous Villa Carl Amalia in Caserta, to which, as is combined the magnificence of a vast building, which in the idleness of peace, in imitation of the most warlike and praised monarchs of the earth, the King of the Two Sicilies has undertaken, so is here unitedly sublimated the Symbol. The said Machine appeared fully equipped with cheerful torches, which then, overcome by the greater light of the shots, returned to shine as before. Made by order of His Holiness Pope Benedict XIV, on the eve of the glorious Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the year 1752.
