Perhaps the most influential artist of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso is best known for pioneering Cubism and fracturing the two-dimensional picture plane in order to convey three-dimensional space. Inspired by African and Iberian art, he also contributed to the rise of Surrealism and Expressionism. Picasso's sizable oeuvre grew to include over 20,000 paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, theater sets, and costume designs. This poster was produced in 2010, in conjunction with the exhibition Picasso: The Mediterranean Years (1945–1962) at Gagosian, Britannia Street, London, curated by John Richardson and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso. It features a black-and-white photograph of Picasso with his sculpture Petite fille sautant à la corde (1950), in progress at his studio Le Fournas, Vallauris. See less
