Striking postmodern handmade studio pottery coffee mug with an exaggerated architectural silhouette. Recently picked up at an estate auction in St. Louis Park, MN.
This collectible piece was created by contemporary Brooklyn-based ceramicist Dustin Barzell. It beautifully channels a nostalgic Memphis Group aesthetic with its playful proportions and vibrant color palette.
Features a wide, shallow vessel body accented by a thick, oversized loop handle. The exterior boasts a highly tactile, textured design with raised ribbons of turquoise glaze overlapping a pink base, completely covered in a fine black speckle pattern. The interior is finished in a smooth, contrasting solid white glaze. Signed "Ceramicism" on the unglazed pink-trimmed base.
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or visible wear. A bold, sculptural functional art piece perfect for daily use or display.
