A pair of Ironstone printed shell shaped dessert dishes with printed design and hand coloring by G. & C. Mason & Co. c. 1820.
The center is decorated with an oriental garden scene within a scroll. The scene includes a dignitary seated at a desk, three women, and a child. In the background are plants, trees, and a tall gilt table.
Surrounding this are flowers and two cartouches each containing a Daoist emblem. All of these are imposed on a circular diaper pattern.
The reverse bears a transfer printed crown above a banner bearing the words “Patent Ironstone China”. See less
