This is an exceptional, authentic early 20th-century sterling silver Kiddush cup underplate/saucer, hand-crafted in Jerusalem during the celebrated "Old Bezalel" period. Sourced directly from World Auction Gallery in New York—a premier auction house widely recognized for its expertise and specialization in historic Judaica—this piece carries excellent institutional credibility.
The plate features the masterful, intricate hand-hammered texture and chased detailing that defined the early Zionist arts and crafts movement under Boris Schatz. The rim features a finely detailed geometric running border framing the central well, perfectly designed to catch droplets of sacramental wine during the Shabbat or holiday Kiddush blessing.
The underside bears the sharp, authentic stamped hallmark: "Bezalel Jerusalem" in Hebrew (בצלאל ירושלם). Whether used as an elegant standalone cabinet piece or paired to complete an antique Bezalel wine goblet, this is a scarce survival of early Holy Land silversmithing with a rock-solid sourcing pedigree.
