Fresh from a local attic where it has been for the past 50 years or so. Chest was refinished decades ago. It was probably originally painted red. There is a square plug in the front where a knot was replaced probably because it fell out and under the red paint this would not show. Top still has its original hinges. The cover for the till on the inside is missing. Finish is a bit dry but fine the way it is in my opinion. The small white areas appear to be putty covering the nails used in construction of the piece. Again this wouldn't show under the original paint. Piece is in nice condition considering its roughly 200 years old. This blanket chest is a nice size as well. It stands 36 1/2" tall and is 37" wide at the top and 18" deep. See less
