It is in excellent, … Read more This is a beautiful Antique Chinese Famille Rose (Fencai) Porcelain Lidded Jar with Carved Rosewood Stand. It is in excellent, colorful condition and weighs apx. 3lbs 2.4oz. It is 7.25" tall and 7" in diameter. The lid has the traditional peaches which symbolize good luck, protection and longevity, and the flower sequence on the lid corresponds to the flowers on the body. The body is exquisitely hand painted with peony flowers (the "king of flowers", bringing wealth, honor, nobility & romance) and bamboo, representing integrity, modesty & loyalty. There are leaf "handles" on both sides. The Chinese characters in the script seal on the bottom are the maker's mark. I believe this piece was created during the Republic Era, circa 1920-30. The minor pitting is from the sand kiln and is not considered a flaw. There is a small amount of yellowed tag residue on the bottom as shown. See less
