This is a framed screenprint from the 1974 Hand-Colored Flowers portfolio by Andy Warhol (1928-1987). Creatively, this is a significant portfolio as it revisits Warhol's earlier, simplistic illustration style, rather than his typical Pop Art technique. This screenprint, Flowers (Hand-Colored) 111, is one of the ten hand-colored screenprints from Warhol's 1974 Flowers portfolio. This hand-colored series followed Warhol's Black and White Flowers, which focused on Warhol's fascination with line drawings that place an emphasis on line and composition. The Flowers (Hand-Colored) series showcased the same images from the earlier black and white series but they are each uniquely filled with Warhol's application of watercolor dyes. With hand-coloring, shading and adding subtle hues to some of the flowers and their parts, Warhol brought a free flow of color to each individual screenprint.
This screenprint is signed by Andy Warhol.
