In the tradition of Bruno Mathsson's iconic 1936 "Maria" table, this teak gateleg dining set features a central column that houses four matching slatted folding chairs, with drop leaves that expand the surface from a 12¼" wall-hugging silhouette to a full 61½" dining table. The brass casters allow it to glide effortlessly into a closet or against a wall when not in use — a studied solution to the small-space dining problem and a sculptural object in its own right.

Likely Danish or Scottish manufacture, c. 1960s-1970s. Unattributed but constructed in the manner associated with McIntosh of Scotland and the Mathsson workshop.

Condition: Honest vintage. One area of repaired veneer loss on top (from packing tape) visible in detail photos — would benefit from professional restoration but presents well as-is. Original teak patina throughout. All four chairs intact and functional.

From a Connecticut estate. A collector's piece for the right small-space dweller — or the right designer who appreciates a piece of mid-century functional sculpture.
