This exceptional studio ceramic vase from the workshop of Wilhelm & Elly Kuch captivates with its striking, sculptural form and characteristic crater glaze. The organically shaped silhouette with its asymmetrical opening appears as if it were a naturally formed object—almost volcanic, raw, yet possessing the elegantly curved design language of the 1960s.
The surface displays the deeply textured crater landscape typical of the Kuchs' work, in contrasting black and white with irregularly shaped craters and inclusions.
with its tactile presence, it is an outstanding example of experimental German studio ceramics from the 1950s and 60s, for which the artist couple received international acclaim (including awards from Faenza and Vallauris). This piece has an attribution mark,
