Create an unusual and festive display with 8 Venetian Carnival Masks. 7 authentic paper maché (no plastic) masks and 1 … Read more Create an unusual and festive display with 8 Venetian Carnival Masks. 7 authentic paper maché (no plastic) masks and 1 traditional red leather mask were all collected in the 1980s by an avid Carnival attendee. The masks represent various characters, including the bautino or Casanova mask featured in Stanley Kubrick's film Eyes Wide Shut. Except the two large masks (Pulcinella and Jester) and the small woman's black velvet (Moretta) mask designed to be gripped with one's teeth, five masks are wearable with ribbons attached as shown.
Most masks are either signed, come with a certificate of authenticity, or retain a sticker identifying the maker, like respected Venetian workshops Mondo Novo Maschere and Ca' Macana.
The masks are in very good vintage condition with some age discoloration as shown. They are all sized for the average face.
