An incredibly rare, investment-grade original bilingual Belgian movie poster from the first 1951 theatrical release of Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological film noir masterpiece, Strangers on a Train. Based on the celebrated debut novel by Patricia Highsmith and co-written by Raymond Chandler, this legendary thriller starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, and Robert Walker is widely considered one of Hitchcock's absolute finest artistic triumphs of the 1950s.
Distinct from the standard US and UK marketing campaigns, this stunning Belgian release features magnificent, atmospheric stone lithograph artwork. The composition brilliantly visualizes the film’s dark, fateful premise, showcasing a brooding Farley Granger beneath a romantic embrace, shadowed by Robert Walker's sinister, calculating gaze, all divided by the iconic imagery of intersecting train tracks.
Printed specifically for bilingual audiences, it carries the French title L'Inconnu du Nord-Express and the Dutch title De Onbekende van de Noord Express. Featuring the classic, unprinted white header originally intended for regional theater showtimes, true first-release 1951 prints of this title are highly elusive and represent a premier acquisition for serious Hitchcock purists and graphic art collectors alike.
