It is marked “Made in Italy” on the bottom and the solid walnut frame has a soft patina from age and use.
The sides are woven caning with pegs - not pressed in caned panels.
The style could be called Mediterranean or Spanish Colonial.
Created to hold reading material next to your chair, it can still do that plus needlework or record albums.
