An elegant late Georgian English Pembroke table crafted in richly figured mahogany, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Raised on finely tapered square legs, the table features two drop leaves allowing the form to expand gracefully while maintaining a compact footprint when closed.
The restrained proportions and clean architectural lines reflect the refined sensibilities of the late Georgian period, with an aesthetic that bridges the transition from earlier Georgian forms into the lighter Hepplewhite and Regency tastes of the early 19th century. A single frieze drawer fitted with brass pulls provides discreet storage, while the warm mahogany surface displays a beautifully aged patina acquired over centuries of use.
Originally designed as a highly versatile form within the English country house, Pembroke tables were used for tea service, writing, dining, and entertaining. Their adaptability and elegant proportions have ensured their enduring appeal in both traditional and contemporary interiors alike.
A timeless and exceptionally useful piece of English furniture with understated sophistication and wonderful color.
England, circa 1780–1820.
