Crafted from a dense, richly grained dark hardwood, the rectangular flush-panel top rests over an exceptionally deep, continuous apron featuring intricate openwork carving. The apron is decorated with beautifully stylized, scrolling lingzhi (fungus of immortality) motifs and elongated ruyi-shaped cartouches that lend an airy, graceful quality to the substantial frame. It is supported by robust, straight legs of square section, accented by raised diamond bosses at the shoulders and anchored by an openwork multi-tiered stretcher base with scrolling floor runners. The feet terminate in subtly carved, stylized archaic key-fret scrolls.
