Traveling Man Treasures is selling this rare Burmese Buddhist monk statue dating from the late 19th century. The piece is hand-carved from wood, lacquered, gilt, and inset with glass roundels. The work has a crack repair and other signs of wear as expected to its age (as shown in the photos).
The Buddhist monk is depicted in a prostrate posture of devotion, hands clasped in Anjali Mudra: a gesture of profound prayer and humility.
