This museum-quality pair of cantilever lounge armchairs is a definitive milestone of european avant-garde design, authored by the visionary designer anton lorenz and manufactured under license by the prestigious czechoslovakian firm mücke-melder in the 1930s. Lorenz was a pioneer in mastering the physics of tubular steel, and this design captures the essence of the bauhaus movement with its continuous, fluidly curved steel frame. The sweeping silhouette eliminates the traditional back legs, relying instead on the tensile strength of the metal to provide an iconic, comfortable springiness.
with their striking architectural presence and impeccable minimalist lines, this pair serves as a world-class statement centerpiece for high-end residential interiors, executive offices, or design-forward gallery spaces.
condition & character
the pair has been fully and meticulously refurbished to the highest standards, offering a pristine appearance while honoring its historical integrity.
frame & metalwork: the iconic tubular steel frames have been professionally re-chromed, returning them to a flawless, mirror-like brilliant finish. Structurally, they are exceptionally stable, sturdy, and resilient.
upholstery & seating: the seat and backrest elements have been completely stripped and expertly rebuilt with premium new padding and materials. The fresh upholstery perfectly matches the crisp, clean geometric profile intended by lorenz's original blueprint.
inspection: to properly appreciate the flawless reflectivity of the new chrome finish and the precision craftsmanship of the upholstery, please review the detailed photos.
