This exceptional round extendable dining table is a definitive icon of british mid-century modern design, manufactured by the legendary g-plan (e. Gomme ltd.) during the 1970s. A standout piece from their celebrated minimalist ranges, this table is crafted from premium teak wood, showcasing a spectacular, radiating grain pattern on its circular top. The genius of the design lies in its integrated butterfly extension leaf hidden beneath the surface, allowing the table to effortlessly expand from a comfortable 4-seater round configuration into a spacious oval dining table that accommodates 6 to 8 guests.
supported by a beautifully sculptural cross-legged base that provides excellent legroom, this table features clean organic lines and exceptional structural fluidity. It serves as a sophisticated, highly functional centerpiece for a mid-century modern dining room or contemporary open-plan living area.
condition & character
the dining table is preserved in its original vintage condition, offering a beautifully authentic look at premium 1970s craftsmanship.
surface & patina: the rich teak tabletop retains its deep, warm golden-brown color tone with a beautiful original finish. It displays minor signs of use, including light surface scuffs and small scratches consistent with careful daily family dining over the decades.
mechanism & leaf: the internal butterfly folding extension mechanism functions smoothly and fits together seamlessly. Because the extension leaf spent most of its life folded away inside, it retains a beautifully preserved grain, with only a minor, typical vintage color variation compared to the main tabletop.
structure: the solid timber framework and elegant legs are exceptionally stable and sturdy, providing a rock-solid, wobble-free dining experience.
inspection: to properly evaluate the high-quality wood grain matching, smooth extension function, and light vintage character, please review the detailed photos carefully.
