The man portrayed is the famous Dutch anatomist, anthropologist, and naturalist Petrus Camper (1722-1789), of whom there is another very similar portrait, made by Tibout Regters. In this version, however, the attribution to George Van Der Mijn (1727-1763) is noted on the back. The painting is presented in a period frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
