A pair of timeless blue and white Chinese Export platters.
These underglaze blue Fitzhugh pattern Chinese export porcelain platters date to circa 1790.
The central design is the typical Fitzhugh decoration of four sprays of chrysanthemums and peonies surrounding a central medallion. This pattern was adopted by Spode and other English manufacturers, but this is the original that started it all.
The border has the archetypical Fitzhugh border pattern of a trellis diaper with spearheads and dumbbells.
The reverse is unmarked.
