Atmospheric antique European oil on canvas portrait depicting a gentleman in Ottoman-influenced ceremonial dress, signed “Stöyer” lower right.

Rendered in a manner closely aligned with European Turquerie and Orientalist portrait traditions, the composition reflects the long European fascination with Ottoman costume, court imagery, and eastern portraiture.

The work exhibits convincing period characteristics including aged canvas, older stretcher construction, natural craquelure, oxidized varnish, and a richly developed painted surface.

Held in a private family collection for more than fifty years and believed to have been acquired through gallery or auction channels during the 1970s.
