Vase/Jar/Pitcher Monochromatic Minimalist Aesthetic Style Earthenware Signed
Excellent vintage condition. This is a minimalist aesthetic style that will fit in any decor. It is large, meas are listed in details. Estate sale purchase, however, there is no provenance and I couldn't find a similar piece.
However, I will share what I found during my many in-depth research projects with AI, this is an Austrian-made piece of art by Josef Strnack. It is signed and AI indicates the Josef Strnact maker's mark officially introduced the impressed rectangular/square "JS" frame mark in 1900. Prior to 1900, the factory primarily relied on a shield-shaped mark enclosing "JS" over an asterisk or small flower motif, which I found in my research. They utilized variations of this specific square baseline stamp until the factory ultimately shut down and changed ownership in 1934
This piece of art boasts a striking, squashed spherical silhouette with a simple looped handle, completely coated in a rich, warm amber-brown glaze with subtle metallic depths. The base features an unglazed foot ring revealing the classic regional buff/red earthenware clay body. The bottom is fully marked with the authentic raised, framed "JS" monogram and the historic "AUSTRIA" export stamp, dating this piece securely between 1900 and 1914.
It's an ideal piece for the minimalist in your life.
