Very rare meissen art nouveau porcelain group: a boy sitting on the floor with his legs stretched out, wearing a … Read more Very rare meissen art nouveau porcelain group: a boy sitting on the floor with his legs stretched out, wearing a blue-striped sailor suit, with a large, open picture book on his lap; next to him, head to head, a girl kneeling in a patterned dress, pointing at one of the pictures. Set on a white octagonal plinth. Very loving representation of the characters and the details. Designer: frieda strauss (berlin, 19th/20th century) the berlin sculptor frieda strauss delivered two children’s figurines to meissen in 1909–1910; these were produced in limited numbers and are extremely rare. Model a 224 was created circa 1909.
