This pair of 1960's French rattan and glass étagères are in wonderful condition. These are widely attributed to Louis Sognot, and a wonderful example of this French designer's penchant for mixing natural materials into modernist design.
What I love about these in particular, besides their effortless beauty, is the shelf spacing. With 18 inches between shelves, they allow for statement making accessories and books to be displayed with ease without the restriction of tight shelf spacing.
These measure 77.5 tall, 30.25 wide, 14 deep. The glass itself is 28.25 wide by 12.5 deep.
Two of the six glass pieces have been recently replaced. Some of the older pieces have very subtle nicks along some of the rounded edges that can be positioned to be on the back side out of view.
These shelves have been well cared for. There is minimal breakage in the cane, and nothing structural. The cane is woven around a sturdy metal frame, and beside a few small breaks and some vacuum scuffs around the lower corners, these pieces look and feel as gorgeous as they would have been decades ago.
