The defining element is the pair of open, hand-carved beech arms. Each traces a fluid arc from seat rail to tip — looping outward, then curling inward with a naturalistic ease rarely found in carved beech. The honey-toned beech has deepened over the decades into a rich, warm brown, its grain smooth and close.

The high back tapers into softly flared wingback ears, generous without feeling imposing. Four tapered, outward-splayed legs give the silhouette an easy lightness from every angle.

The cream-to-warm-grey bouclé upholstery — a later reupholstery — sits comfortably against the warmth of the frame. The pairing works well: tactile fabric against carved wood, understated but considered.
