The subject of the offer is a rare and atmospheric engraving by an outstanding American artist
engraver John Sartain, made according to a painting by the master of hippie painting,
Alfred de Dreux. The composition shows an elegant lady in a riding outfit,
sitting on a white horse in a forest scenery. At her feet lies a faithful dog (spaniel/
retriever). The work exudes romanticism and melancholy, typical of the Victorian era.
The graphic has full s at the bottom: "Peint par A. De Dreux" and "Imprimé & Publié par
Goupil & Cie", which confirms its authenticity and prestigious origin from one of\.
the most important publishing houses of the 19th century.
