A poetic and atmospheric work by André Naggar, a French-Egyptian photographer whose work is held in major public collections, including the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Known for his exploration of myth, movement, and the human figure, Naggar developed a distinctive visual language bridging classical references and contemporary photographic practice.
In Icare, the myth of Icarus is reinterpreted through a soft, fluid composition where figure and landscape dissolve into one another. Executed in the rare collotype process, the image reveals exceptional tonal depth and a velvety surface, allowing subtle gradations of light and shadow to unfold. Suspended between ascent and fall, the composition captures a fleeting moment of tension and fragility. The Hahnemühle cotton paper further enhances the tactile, almost painterly presence of the work.
Printed in Paris by Atelier Item in 1996, this signed and numbered piece reflects Naggar’s distinctive approach to photography as a printmaking medium.
