Screenprint titled Fantasia by Erte created in 1982
It is a limited edition, pencil signed and numbered screenprint created in the Art Deco style that came into vogue internationally in the 1920s. The artwork featuring Erte’s striking and intricate design portrays a highly
stylised, ethereal female figure in a mannered pose, emblematic of the Art Deco movement that Erte helped define. It is based on one of Erte’s famous cover designs for Harper’s Bazaar originally created in July 1920.
Like much of his work for Harper’s Bazaar, this piece focuses on ‘fantasies’ of high fashion, using geometric patterns, sleek lines and intricate detailing. Fantasia is a quintessential Art Deco work. Fantasia was so-popular that Erte also adapted the design into a limited-edition bronze sculpture around 1987-1988 and a collector’s plate by the House of Erte (Franklin Mint)

Erté was the pseudonym of the Russian-born French artist and designer Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990). Born Romain de Tirtoff, Erte took his pseudonym from the French pronunciation of
his initials, RT. Erté was a multi-talented 20th century artist and designer whose works are seen in a wide array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set designs for film, theatre and opera and interior décor. The artist Erte is considered the Father of Art Deco the style that came into vogue internationally in the 1920s. This highly sought-after limited edition screen print out of an edition size of 300 with 40 about unnumbered artist’s proofs is extremely rare today. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
