This piece looks like it came straight out of an early 20th-century cabinet of curiosities! This large round painting, or tondo, exudes a mysterious and poetic atmosphere. The work, a print on paper in soft, warm hues, depicts a captivating allegory: a pensive, winged female figure seems to watch over an imposing crocodile with open jaws. This dreamlike composition invites contemplation and sparks the imagination. Its lovely circular cherrywood frame completes the ensemble.
This is an antique piece presented under glass. The frame is made of solid cherrywood. In good condition for its age, the image is slightly faded, and the wooden frame shows some age-related cracks.
