An exceptional, highly collectible pair of late 19th-century English Victorian majolica hollowware in the desirable 'Pond Lily and Rope' pattern by Samuel Lear (Hanley, England, active 1877–1886). This striking set features a grand, oversized milk pitcher/creamer paired with its matching lidded sugar bowl.
The high-relief design showcases vibrant pink-tipped yellow water lilies and lush green lily pads floating against a stippled, creamy-white background, framed beautifully by rustic brown rope-twist borders and integrated branch handles. Brilliant turquoise-glazed interiors provide a gorgeous pop of classic Victorian color. Unmarked on the reverse, which is entirely correct for authentic Lear production from this era.

The oversized 8-inch pitcher is structurally sound with a tight body and a solid, secure rope-twist handle. It displays a few minor, shallow surface flakes along the delicate, scalloped top rim commensurate with 140-year-old earthenware (fully documented in close-up photos). Both pieces show expected, beautiful, fine age-crazing under the glaze. less
