An elegant and highly decorative pair of English ironstone urns, now mounted as lamps, executed in a brilliant orange enamel ground with finely detailed black-and-white Neoclassical transfer decoration inspired by ancient Greek vase painting. Likely produced in Staffordshire during the mid-19th century and attributable to the circle of Ashworth Bros. or a related English ironstone manufactory, the vessels reflect the enduring fascination with Pompeian design and Grand Tour antiquity popular during the Regency and Victorian periods.

Each amphora-form vase is ornamented with mythological reserves depicting figures associated with the classical world, including a likely representation of Hermes presenting or safeguarding the infant Dionysus, while the opposing reserve depicts a classical youth bearing a wreath and ritual vessel amidst Bacchic motifs. Delicate Greek key borders, grapevine emblems, and scrolling handles further reinforce the archaeological taste of the period.

The urns have been professionally mounted as lamps and enhanced with additional lucite ball spacers and stepped Neoclassical brass-mounted bases, blending antique ceramics with refined Hollywood Regency sophistication. Newly rewired and ready for use.
