Mid-Century Modern figurative work by renowned New Jersey modernist artist Joseph "Joe" Kardonne (1911-2005).
Cubist watercolor and ink line piece capturing a female nude figure with the energetic, fluid gesture typical of his raw life studies. This piece comes housed in a mid-century gilt wood frame and soft lavender matting, offering immediate vintage charm.
Reflecting its age, the paper displays a visible horizontal tear extending inward from the left edge across the background wash. The matting also shows minor vintage discoloration. This piece is priced significantly below standard gallery retail to accommodate these character flaws, making it a rare opportunity to own a piece of 1960s American modernism.
