Crafted in France circa 1950, the oval form is dressed in a warm mustard yellow finish with a finely craquelure-painted surface throughout, giving the piece wonderful depth and aged character. The body is embellished on one side with a delicate hand-painted floral bouquet in soft pink, lavender, cream, and green tones, while the reverse features a smaller single blossom motif for added decorative interest.
The top and bottom edges are framed with pierced gallery trim, lending refinement and visual texture to the simple cylindrical silhouette. The hand-painted decoration combined with the time-softened finish reflects the enduring appeal of French country decorative arts of the mid-20th century.
