This cupboard was made by an … Read more Beautiful Chippendale style mahogany and flame mahogany veneer bench made 2 part corner cupboard. This cupboard was made by an unknown cabinetmaker in the early 20th century using old lumber. He was obviously familiar with Chippendale's design book because he nailed the proportions and and carving. Even the Ogee feet are exceptional. The cupboard is made in 2 pieces so its easy to move. The top glazed door, with individual panes of glass, opens to an interior with shaped shelves. The shelves have a plate groove carved in them. The shelves are not adjustable. The lower part has 1 shelf. The interior of both the top and bottom retain a nice original red wash. The pierced pediment ends with carved rosettes. The central finial is removeable. Cupboard is a great useable size. Only 84" tall and 33" wide and 19" deep. It comes out of the corner 24". The back boards show reciprocating saw marks like you would expect to see on a cupboard made in the 18th century. Minor wear to the finish consistent with age and use. The key that came with it works but is probably not the original key. See less
